Tetris Couldn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification May Address This Issue

Whenever a prominent awards ceremony nears, you'll find a clamor for the addition fresh award types to acknowledge underappreciated efforts and satisfy the spirits of enthusiasts who have specialized interests.

A fellow writer previously argued for a horror game category. That would be fantastic. So would strategy board titles, representing a dedicated supporter's campaign. Yet I need to apologize in advance if I try to elbow in front because like all single-minded supporters, there's a strong justification for why my demand stands as crucial and important of all. The demand is this: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Classifying creative works isn't exact; opinions vary greatly, and inevitably start arguments resulting in unclear classifications. There’s a reason film award organizations steer clear of genre categories. But it is a necessary evil within the realm of video games, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them a single creative category.

To recognize the complete range of achievement in video games to be recognized, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Current Gaming Award Categories

Prominent interactive entertainment events currently feature genre categories for Action, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these six categories effectively encompass many game types, allowing placement for numerous titles.

Not so for brain-teasing titles. No appropriate category exists to accommodate them. Think about these outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: the architectural riddles from a specific release, the pulse-pounding block-matching of another game, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles from additional release. Which classification works among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.

Acknowledgment Issues

There are dozens excellent brain-teasers launched regularly that have no home during gaming ceremonies, if they accidentally match classification types such as Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive small studio competitions.

  • An iconic brain-teaser got overlooked in any category during that awards season
  • Another imaginative release missed out during that ceremony
  • Popular arranging title was overlooked recently
  • Limited numbers of brain-teasers managed to sneak into small studio or handheld classifications

Importance of Logic Titles

Commonly they're compact experiences, but the art behind logic titles carries substantial weight. Well-known matching games count as the most-played games worldwide and have been for an extended period.

The iconic tile-matching title challenges popular creative games claiming status as most purchased experience; it’s also in the running as greatest title ever. Puzzle games are foundational for gaming as medium, while interacting with diverse game types.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Logic titles wouldn't face that issue. You could fill a field of five with fascinating, diverse, deserving games annually without trouble — perhaps, with difficulty, given the need to exclude so many good games out.

To emphasize again, these are games without proper classification in important events. Brain-teaser creators are working at the demanding boundary of video game design, creating some of essential manifestations of the video game form. Similar to film action specialists, they merit acknowledgment. Let’s not keep them waiting generations.
